Possible Signature of Sausage Waves in Photospheric Bright Points

نویسندگان

چکیده

Sausage waves have been frequently reported in solar magnetic structures such as sunspots, pores, and coronal loops. However, they not unambiguously identified photospheric bright points (BPs). Using high-resolution TiO image sequences obtained with the Goode Solar Telescope at Big Bear Observatory, we analyzed four isolated BPs. It was found that their area average intensity oscillate for several cycles an in-phase fashion. The oscillation periods range from 100 to 200 seconds. We interpreted phase relation a signature of sausage waves, particularly slow after discussing sausage-wave theory opacity effect.

Spatial and temporal relations between magnetic elements and bright points in the photospheric network

28 min time series of high resolution magnetograms, continuum filtergrams and line core filtergrams have been obtained in the line FeI 6173, with the 50 cm refractor of the Pic du Midi Observatory, in a quiet area near the solar disk center. Their comparison shows that every bright point of the photospheric network coincides better than 0”5 with a magnetic element of small size (smaller than 1”...

Oscillations and running waves observed in sunspots ? II . Photospheric waves

To continue our study of waves related to sunspots in the photosphere, we analyzed CCD, high resolution sunspot observations obtained in the Fe i 557.6 nm line. We produced " time slice images " which reveal inward slow propagating waves in the photospheric penumbra and outward propagating waves in the area around the sunspot. The phase velocity of the waves is near 0.5 km s −1 in both cases an...

Identification of linear slow sausage waves in magnetic pores

The analysis of an 11-hour series of high resolution white light observations of a large pore in the sunspot group NOAA 7519, observed on 5 June 1993 with the Swedish Vacuum Solar Telescope at La Palma on Canary Islands, has been recently described by Dorotovič et al. (2002). Special attention was paid to the evolution of a filamentary region attached to the pore, to horizontal motions around t...

Leakage of photospheric acoustic waves into non-magnetic solar atmosphere

Aims. This paper aims to look at the propagation of synthetic photospheric oscillations from a point source into a two-dimensional non-magnetic solar atmosphere. It takes a particular interest in the leakage of 5-min global oscillations into the atmosphere, and aims to complement efforts on the driving of chromospheric dynamics (e.g. spicules and waves) by 5-min oscillations. Methods. A model s...

Bright solitary waves in malignant gliomas.

We put forward a nonlinear wave model describing the fundamental dynamical features of an aggressive type of brain tumors. Our model accounts for the invasion of normal tissue by a proliferating and propagating rim of active glioma cancer cells in the tumor boundary and the subsequent formation of a necrotic core. By resorting to numerical simulations, phase space analysis, and exact solutions ...
